Christmas Message from West Town Farm

Regenerative farming is what we practice here at West Town Farm. Being organic is part of that process; but also as part of and a member of the Pasture for Life Association we have been moving to a more sustainable way of farming, implementing practices that are better for the land and the planet.

By using techniques such as mob grazing and by being part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, we are helping to protect the soil, sequester more carbon and increase the amount of wildlife found on the farm.

We are seeing far greater diversity in different species on the farm, particularly with the birds. This year we have seen: Buzzards, Tawny Owls, Barn Owls, Goldfinches, Cirl Buntings, Starlings, Linnets, Ravens and Kestrels to name but a few. We've also seen increasing numbers of Badgers, Foxes, Deer, and Squirrels, and in our orchards, we have seen an increased presence of Voles.

Our cattle and sheep are healthier, and we use far fewer antibiotics than we used to.

Your support is so important to us, and you can help us, and everything that we do at the farm, by either coming to the farm shop and purchase goods or hosting an event here. You can visit the farm as a school trip; come and walk the farm trail. You can even make a day of it with your family by booking the fire pits in the henge or beautiful woodland, perfect for picnics in the colder months.

All the staff at the farm are here to help our customers, so if you have any queries or problems, please do get in touch.

We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Andy, Grace, Jenny, Holly, Rob, Mickey and Steve.
