Farm overview
270 acre organic farm split into two units with 22 beef cows producing a calf in Spring.
Young-stock are reared to produce enough fat cattle to supply the farm shop and an occasional meat box. Older cows go to a local organic wholesaler.
There is a small herd of fattening pigs and a small flock of laying chickens.
Mob grazing is practised along with a rotational grazing system for the cattle. A grazing system also needs to be developed for pasture grazing the pigs and chickens. An electric fence system is used to manage the grazing of all the farm animals.
The farm is in a 5 year Higher Tier organic Stewardship scheme until December 2023, including 25 educational visits per year.
