Event, Marketing and meat sales Manager - Maternity cover

We are looking for an events, marketing and meat sales manager at West Town Farm.  It is an exciting opportunity for someone to step into an established role to cover maternity leave. The primary role of the successful applicant will be to plan and deliver weddings, conferences, parties, meat sales, manage our website/social media platforms, accommodation and hospitality, farm walks, public open days, and work experience placements - all with the aim of reconnecting people with food and farming.


The Role:

This role is suited to someone who can think on their feet, is not afraid to try new ways of doing things and has a lot of energy.  It is a diverse position and mostly self managed. 

  • Mature, independent, with a full clean driving licence.

  • Experience in event booking/management and co-ordination (min 3 years experience)

  • Ambitious.

  • Have a good eye for detail

  • Computer literate

  • Sociable, friendly and easy will be the face of West Town Farm.

  • A fantastic communicator, as the successful applicant will be working within a diverse team and managing and delegating to the farm staff.

  • Flexible with working hours. During the summer months this role requires a lot of weekend work and a few late nights.

  • Good organizational skills


As part of a very small team your responsibilities will be varied and will include but are by no means limited to:

  • Event management. We currently offer a range of venue hire options including weddings, birthday parties, conferences.  We also hold public open days throughout the year.

  • Generating additional income by developing innovative new services. 

  • Marketing, communications, social media and website copywriting.

  • Relationship management (all customers, local community members, suppliers and sister organisations)

  • Managing our very small, self-service farm shop. 

  • Co-ordinating public access around the farm work and maintenance calendars.

  • Keeping and managing a budget.

  • Organising and managing staff/volunteers (often WWOOFers and work experience placements who sometimes do not speak English as a first language).

  • Completing risk assessments etc. to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. 

  • Procurement and stock control relating to both agricultural and event management activities.

  • Managing our Shepherds hut bookings/changeovers 

  • Glamping (setting up/ taking down bell tents)

  • Cooking/preparing meat

  • Recruiting staff/volunteers for larger events 

Closing date for applicants is 9th October. We’ll let successful applicants know by 13th October. Interviews will take place 22nd/23rd October. Position start date 1st December.

Working hours are 22.5 a week from your start date until 1st of April 2021 when they will increase to 37.5 a week. Increase in hours is seasonal from April 1st to October 31st but will be reviewed in early October. 


Normal working hours - 7.30am - 4.00pm.


Event working hours vary.


Weekend work/evening work is required when events take place.


Start date would be 1st of December 2020, the farm closes for 1.5weeks over Christmas this would need unpaid leave. 


Salary is between £21,000  and £23,000 pro rata dependant on experience
