Orchard Volunteering Day
10:00 - 16:00 Saturday 17th March 2012
Since 2009, as part of our stewardship work, we have been restoring orchard's on the farm. We have planted 300 new trees over the last couple of years, all local varieties of cider and cooking apples. Although there are also pear, plum and cherry trees.
Maintaining these trees is really important to the farm's local wildlife and landscape, you can find out more about this on the Orchard page of our farm trail.
As spring approaches the orchards are in need of mulching and pruning but 300 trees present quite a challenge for the small farm team so we're holding four volunteer days in the orchards throughout February and March.
If you'd like to spend a day excercising (or aquiring) your green fingers in our beautiful orchards we'd love to have you!
Volunteer days will be from 10am-4pm and lunch is on us so you just need to bring yourselves attired in appropriate clothing.
Please drop us an email on hello@westtownfarm.co.uk if you'd like to come along, though you can also just pop by on the day.
